Lila Caroline Knowles
Lila was born in Granton, Ontario in 1886 and studied under Farquhar M. Knowles in Toronto and at the Central Technical School.
She travelled and painted in northern Ontario, Nova Scotia as well as Cape Cod and England and spent many summers painting around Georgian Bay. Working in oils she painted homesteads, landscapes, floral studies and coastal scenes. She was the long time Art Director at Alma College, St. Thomas. Lila married F. M. Knowles in 1931.
She was a member of the Women’s Art Association and exhibited with the Royal Canadian Academy and the Art Association of Montreal.
Lila Knowles passed away in 1979.
